We want to make it as easy as possible to get you outfitted and get you outside! After taking a look at our rental information page, feel free to call or email us with questions. And, you can view our Rental Policies and Agreement here.
This is truly the no hassles way of going about renting gear. and no one else offers you the option to buy after you have tried gear on a real outdoor trip.
Here are some commonly asked rental information questions regarding renting gear from Outdoors Geek. If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact us. You will most likely talk to one of us pictured to the right and we would be honored to serve you!
If you need to rent camping equipment for a future date up to one year ahead of time, just go ahead and rent through our shopping cart. Or just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at (303)699-6944 with questions. If you rent on line, your credit card will be charged immediately and you will receive an email order verification. And in the following 24 to 72 hours, you will receive an additional paid invoice from our in house processing system. Finally, before we actually ship your gear, you will receive a tracking information email directly from UPS.. Your only job is to have fun and send things back to us when you get back (or drop them off at our retail shop in Denver). Please remember to reserve as far in advance as practical. Once your reservation is set, your gear is guaranteed to be available for you.
You do not pay for any of the transit time when you rent from Outdoors Geek.. If you need a tent, backpack, etc for a three day trip, below is an example of a 3 day trip from Friday-Sunday.
- Outdoors Geek will ship your gear to arrive on Thursday (the day before you leave)
- We will include a pre-paid shipping tag for return shipping as well.
- We can ship your gear anywhere you want it shipped. Like your destination if you are flying in. We often ship to a UPS Store or first night hotel. Whatever works for you. It's a good idea to call your hotel or UPS Store to make sure they will accept your gear and if there are any special instructions needed on the shipping label.
- On Monday, after you have finished your trip, pop your gear back into UPS using the shipping tag and box we provided for you (and if your traveling it's a good idea to bring tape to tape the box shut for shipping).
What gear does Outdoors Geek carry?
First, we carry what we call "Remarkable Gear". Top name brands across the board. Others may claim to, but we actually do it. Our rental items include tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, backpacks, water filtration, stoves, cooking items, accessories, and more. You actually get to pick the brand and style you need depending on the type of trip you are taking.
Are group discounts available?
Every camping and backpacking package we provide includes an automatic package discount of about 10% just for ordering a package. Group discounts depend on a number of factors including, but not limited to, group size (we serve some groups of over 1000 campers), location, time of year, special services, etc. Let us know how we can help your group and we will do everything possible to make this your best trip ever. Returning Gear Clean and Dry
At Outdoors Geek our motto includes the commitment of "Crazy Clean" gear....but we don't expect that from you. We do expect gear to be returned clean and dry. Dry is the number one thing. Wet gear means mildew and mildew means hours for The Geek to get things ready for the next trip. Clean for you means shake the dirt out of the inside of the tent and other gear. It's important to know that we reserve the right to charge a cleaning fee if your gear comes back wet. How often do we do that? Not often. And if you are in a situation where you have to return gear back damp or wet, a phone call will go a long way in avoiding charges.
With that said, we understand normal wear and tear on rental items. If items are damaged, lets say you put your tent or sleeping bag too close to the fire and holes were burned in it, there is a fee for fixing or replacing. Just treat the gear like you own it and there shouldn't be any problem.
