Hiking

Acadia National Park has some of the most beautiful and well-maintained hiking trails in United States and many of these trails are great for hikers of all skill levels.  The most famous trail is “Precipice”, which winds up Champlain Mountain and offers amazing views of Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mountain, and Frenchman’s Bay.

Biking

Originally built by John D. Rockefeller Jr., the Carriage Trails offer nearly 50 miles of hard packed gravel roads that wind throughout the Mount Desert Island. In case you and your family need to rent some bikes, there are a number of bike rental companies around the island.

Boating and Kayaking

Mount Desert Island is ideal for sea kayaking, with many companies in the area offering group tours or kayak rentals.

Whale Watching

Mount Desert Island is home to one of the most active whale watching places in the world. On any given day you may see Humpback, Finback, or Mink whales among other species like puffins, seals, and dolphins.

Beach

Maine is famous for its rockbound coastline, but some of the beaches have fine sand perfect for having a great time with your family and friends.
