The list is published in advance so you can plan your visit ahead of time. However, please keep in mind that some parks, like Rocky Mountain National Park and Yellowstone National Park, are not open all year around. Check ahead to make sure if you are not sure.

The 2014 dates when admission is free are:

  • January 20th for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • February 15-17 for Presidents Day weekend
  • April 19-20 for National Pot Smoking Day….just kidding…this date is actually National Park Week’s opening weekend
  • August 25th for national Park Service’s birthday (#98 this year)
  • September 27th for national Public Lands Day
  • November 11th for Veterans Day
