By all measures the Outdoor Retailer’s 2019 Snow Show in Denver was a success. A great representation of outdoor brands, thousands of outdoor enthusiasts, and all the right outdoor celebrities made for a great experience. Typical of most large industry trade shows, the line between business and pleasure is slightly blurred and this year was no different, the 2019 Outdoor Retailers Winter Market sported a very festive atmosphere.
The 2019 show was the second year the Outdoor Retailer trade show held in Denver. Salt Lake City had the honor for decades as home to the Winter and Summer Outdoor Retail show. Politics of land management regarding the Bears Ears National Monument caused many of the leading outdoor brands to question Outdoor Retailer’s relationship with the state of Utah. Denver is a larger market for the outdoor industry and many outdoor brands are based in Colorado, the switch from Salt Lake City to Denver became a no-brainer.
About 950 outdoor gear brands were represented at Denver’s Convention Center promoting their latest and greatest outdoor gadgets. Outdoor Retailer’s trade shows provide a great opportunity for the consumer and retail purchasers to get to know their favorite brands on a personal level. From skis and snowboards to ice climbing gear to every type of apparel imaginable, gear heads were in heaven at this three day event.
Early estimates put this show’s attendance around 25,000. Industry bigwigs, pro outdoor athletes, retail purchasers, and industry groupies wandered the hall like kids in a candy shop. Many of the kings and queens of the outdoor industry were present; Colorado’s own Tommy Caldwell was seen wandering around labyrinth of popup shops.
