From start to finish we had a wonderful experience with Outdoors Geek Gear Rental. Chelsea and my husband communicated via both phone and email to assure that we had all of the necessary camping gear for our trip to Big Bend National Park. We arranged for the gear to be shipped to our hotel, where we stayed the night that we arrived in Texas. They only charged us for the nights that we camped, which was a real bonus and testament to the excellent customer service. The gear had to be delivered on Friday because UPS didn't deliver on the weekend and we were camping from Monday to Thursday. The gear: We were nervous. And we are avid car campers. But every tent set up is different. That said... when we got to our camp site it was incredibly windy. We approached it with humor and used every single stake included! The tent held up well as we had a major windstorm that first night! The stove was easy to light with the igniter on the Eureka 2 burner stove. We didn't use the table or chairs, because they would have just blown away. The flashlights worked well although we did have to buy batteries for one of them. The soft cooler was a lifesaver! We cooked minimally on this trip but still used the pots and the pan. I can not neglect the fact that Outdoors Geek had the best of the best in regard for to a full size top quality air mattress and full size (think double bed size) sleeping bag so that we could snuggle together.Return was a breeze. We had to pack the gear in the box that it came in and use the UPS label that they included. We did have to buy packing tape. We found a UPS store / access point in a little town on our drive back to town. Dropped it off and that was it. Smooth process.Everything was clean. We will be using this company again for our next big camping adventure and highly recommend Outdoors Geek Gear Rental. THANKS CHELSEA!
I'm an outdoor professional, wilderness first responder, but not local to Colorado. This has been the best place for me to grab gear for others I bring along in the state -- A+ selection, maintenance and easiness of pick up/drop off
We rented an InReach Explorer for 2 weeks. It was in good, clean shape and worked as described. The people who work here are fantastic. Brett and Chelsea went above and beyond helping my school group extract important GPS data from the rental unit. Without their help, our international trip would have been a bust. My sincerest thanks to you!
I bought a very nice used shade tent from Outdoors Geek at a very good price. The “canvas” was in excellent condition. One of the poles had a small crack but the team at Outdoors Geek made it good. I will buy from them again and highly recommend.
I rent gear from Outdoors Geek all the time. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Brett has been extremely responsive with my many questions about their gear. Will definitely continue to rent from them.
The gear we rented was clean and in great shape. Staff was very helpful, knowledgeable and easy to communicate with. Chelsea even helped us pick a trail that was absolutely perfect for our 2 day backpacking trip! Would definitely rent from them again.
These folks are FANTASTIC! Ran into a bit of a snafu with our backpacking food shipment and they were able to ship us what we needed the same day so it would make it on time for our trip. THANK YOU OUTDOORS GEEK!
Tents and other gear to rent or buy, all very high quality. I rented a Marmot tent for over 2 weeks; even with shipping it was less than $200. This is a great place.
I've rented gear from here twice now, and have been very pleased both times. Prices are good and staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. I appreciate not having to deal with the hassle and expense of checking my gear when I fly.
Brett is the real MVP! I came to Denver right after the snow a few weeks ago and had no idea what supplies I needed to hike because I’m from Michigan. Brett not only helped me get the right gear, he gave me tips of things to pack. The weekend pick up was super easy. Highly recommend this place!!
Rented the Northface summit series sleeping bag with the Big Bertha pad for my Kilimanjaro treck. Recieved the rental on time. It was clean and well packaged. Definitelykept me nice and warm all the way to summit! Thank you!
I had a great experience renting gear from outdoors geek. Super easy process, great gear that allowed me to check out a national park without having to buy a bunch of gear I won’t use.
Before I planned our family trip to Yellowstone, I didn’t even know such a service existed! We were delighted with the service from beginning to end. We got the Yellowstone package which has a tent that fits the 8x8’ footprint limit that Grant Campground sets. All of the equipment (tent, chairs, table, cooking set, mattress pads, sleeping bags) were clean and in good condition. We bought our own propane and firewood, and brought cutting board, knife, and eating utensils. They provide a spatula and cooking spoon… I wish we had thought to pack our cooking tongs. We are not experienced campers so we appreciated that the tent came with instructions printed on the bag label. The cooking stove didn’t come with step by step instructions, so you may want to check that out before you end up in Yellowstone without cell service. The mattress pads do require inflating and they are very smooth - our campsite was bit totally flat, so we all slid off our mats the first night. We ended up packing our clothes around us to keep us on our mats! Try to find a level spot for your tent. Thank you to whoever suggested taking photos while unpacking the boxes - it wasn’t easy to Tetris everything back in. They mailed our package to the Jackson UPS, which charged us an additional $30 to store the 2 large boxes. They also gave us the return slips and plenty of time to return the equipment. Every email I sent received a response within an hour - super responsive! I highly recommend this service for anybody who doesn’t own their own camping equipment or doesn’t want to haul it to their destination. Thank you, Outdoors Geek for making our first Yellowstone camping experience a success!
Smooth and reasonably-priced equipment rentals. I was a little apprehensive about renting a sleeping bag (could be gross inside; you never know) but it was clean and had a distinctly neutral and inoffensive smell, which was far better than my own body's condition after the end of a whole day's hike. The packs, sleeping bags and pads my group rented was in good condition, with no notable signs of wear or damage. The shop itself is efficiently laid out and is a nice alternative to bigger stores for camping essentials. One thing to keep in mind is that pack rain covers are rented separately from backpacks, so be sure to get both if needed.
I rented equipment for a backpacking trip in Oregon. All the gear was shipped on time and was in excellent condition. Communication was prompt and friendly. No issues shipping it back to them. Would definitely rent again.
Rented the Winter Backpacking package with my girlfriend the other weekend for doing some backcountry camping at Rocky Mountain National Park. Super positive experience. Picking up the gear is easy, they have a drop box that you can pick the stuff afterhours. Gear is all name brand and well taken care of. Great communication and service. Highly recommend.
This place is great! I came here because I needed snow shoes and would rather rent from a small business than rei. It was super easy to reserve and pay online. I picked up within 30 min of reserving on a Friday afternoon. Got some quality snow shoes and poles for the whole weekend for a super reasonable price. Returning was super easy. Would definitely come back here!
Super friendly workers and great service. They offer a wide variety of equipment at fair prices. If you are in need of hiking, backpacking, or camping equipment, this is the place to go.
Purchased some used gear today, awesome deals on clearance! I highly recommend this local shop for rentals and used equipment purchase. Brett and family are great to work with!!
First time in and was blown away with this place! Ordered online and ready to pick up first thing next morning. Will definitely be coming back here and telling all my friends about this place!
Great gear at a great price with fantastic customer service! I ordered a used backpacking pack from Outdoors Geek. I had a question about a coupon code, and their customer service rep emailed me back almost immediately. Then, when my used pack arrived in the mail, there was a note that they sent me a brand new pack instead at no additional cost! I will be purchasing gear from this company again!
Honest and fair prices. And fantastic customer service. I ordered a good amount of things from their used section and all of it was in great shape. One thing I ordered had a patch on it so they sent me a photo of it before shipping to make sure I was still okay with it. Fantastic experience and will definitely use them as my go to from here on out.
The gear was amazing, as well as the customer service to ensure we had the right gear. Quick ship with easy instructions and preprinted label for return. We hiked the Grand Canyon 33 miles! We will definitely rent from you again, and recommend you to others.
I recently took a chance on a very, very discounted tent on clearance (Big Agnes Fly Creek Ultralight 3p). I was really impressed with the service here, I was both emailed and called just to confirm that I was aware and okay with the condition of the tent (stains and some repairs) and I thought that was really good of them. The only small gripe I have is that I have found a few small holes that they missed, but that I think I can repair further. I mean, for the deal I don't really think I ought to complain. Bear in mind I haven't taken it out yet, this was just on initial investigation but I think all in all I scored. Thanks, Outdoors Geek!
I had a really good experience with Outdoors Geek! I needed to rent a sleeping bag and sleeping pad for a few days and their rental process was so easy and straightforward. And the gear was quaaality and affordable! I highly recommend Outdoors Geek. Thank y'all for the great service!
Located in an old warehouse, Outdoor Geek il could be considered a gem in the rough. Friendly and helpful staff, limited selection of products but they more than cover the basics and the pricing is on point. I will definitely rent gear from them again when camping in the area.
Amazing little camp rental place located just off 70. It's tucked back there but the deals are worth it. Really attentive friendly staff ready to answer questions the minute you walk in the front door. Great rental selection plus a ton of stuff ready to purchase right off the shelf. Gear we rented was in great condition and really clean, will def rent from here again on our next trip on the Colorado Trail. 👍👍👍
Outdoors Geek provided me and my crew of 9 other backpackers with advice and the gear we needed to make our 4 day, 3 night trip into the Gila National Forest a wonderful experience.Things I like about Outdoors Geek:1) Amazing customer service: instant response via email to questions and expert assistance in helping to pick the right gear I needed for my hike2) Ease of use: super easy shipping and return3) Quality: high quality, new gear (and clean, too)4) Enthusiasm: everyone I spoke to at OG seemed to be fully engaged and eager to make my trip a success.Thank you!!!
I'm a huge fan of OG. For someone who doesn't camp very much & doesn't own a lot of gear, their packages provide you with everything you need. From the tent to sleeping bags, chairs, table, & cooking supplies, all the equipment was high quality and well maintained. The rental process was very smooth & their staff are super friendly and helpful. I'll definitely use their rental service again in the future.
My two sons and I booked a 10 day camping road trip for Denver to Zion and back. We rented our gear from these guys because we flew from ATL into Denver. The gear was top notch, clean and met all of our expectations. They have a great shop also for picking up some cool camping and cooking necessities. Great job Outdoors Geek!
Can-Am Crown, is a sled dog race in Fort Kent Maine. We have rented Spot Trackers from Outdoors Geek for our last two races. It is very comforting to know where the mushers are on the trails through the timber harvests of Northern Maine. This year we had a dog team who quit thirty miles from the Finish Line. Search & Rescue knew where the musher was and were able to get her and the dog team out to the nearest road crossing much sooner by the use of the Spot Trackers. Outdoors Geek delivered the trackers from Colorado to Maine a few days ahead of time for the races. which was very appreciated. We hope to do business with them again for the 2020 races.
I have rented twice from Outdoors Geek; one time a camping pack and snowshoes the other time. Knowledgeable staff, great customer service, awesome equipment. Will definitely rent again
Bought a new backpacking tent from here. Awesome tents, awesome prices, and even better customer service! Their prices were already low due to a sale that I received from joining their newsletter, but they also let me know that they price match with anyone! 10/10 would recommend, and I will always go back for my camping/backpacking needs.
Needed snowshoe rental last minute. Did the research online, and found a good deal. Contacted the store to confirm in stock, and the store rep quickly confirmed availability. At arrival, was greeted and again confirmed availability. A few questions, a view of their stocked merchandise, and was out the door. Super friendly, and fast!
Rented sleeping bags and base camp style air mattresses for a stay in the desert outside of Moab. Gear was first rate, in like new condition, and Outdoors Geek staff were friendly. Their communication was excellent.Would rent from them again in a heartbeat.
From the first conversation to a last minute delivery during the event, the service here was excellent. Micah, and all of Outdoors Geek, helped provide over a dozen glamping tents for our wedding which made for an amazingly festive atmosphere. I highly recommend their glamping tents and any services they provide -- especially seeing that their prices are so competitive!
We rented sleeping bags and tent for our two night stay in Rocky mountains and Aspen. We really liked the quality of the tent. He sleeping bags were not so bad either. Overall we enjoyed their friendly reminders, options to ship the stuff to our place, and option to drop off the stuff even after business hours!
Great service, and helped us out when we had rentals from another place fall through at the last minute. Excellent quality equipment, competitive pricing, and good customer service (shout-out to Olivia!)
Purchase and rented used camping equipment. Everything was in great condition and you can rent to try before you buy then get a discount on purchasing the same item, new or used.
I would highly recommend Outdoors Geek. Wanted to go backpacking again after 20 years. Rented a tent, bear canister, water filter, and a backpack. Get the freeze dried food from them. Their pricies are resonable. Their equipment had extras that made my trip awesome. Tent was rain proof. Backpack came with a rain cover; came in handy when it rained. Backpack had a daypack inside which also came in handy. Also got awesome advice on things to buy and where to go. Took their advice and hiked up to Emmaline Lake. Loved it!!! Picture of their tent, food, and bear canister below...
Working with Outdoors Geek was a pleasure. They had exactly what we needed for our 7-day canoe trip and worked with us to find the solution that best fit our needs. Their prices are very good. They were very flexible with us when our plans changed due to a storm and we had to keep some of the gear a bit longer than expected. I highly recommend renting your gear from them.
A good selection of high performance backpacking equipment for rent. Came in pretty handy when I was attempting to keep my weight to a minimum on a solo trip where I was crossing multiple mountain passes. Prices are reasonable and service is quick and efficient. Highly recommend it for trips where you have one off requirements, or as a way to take some high end gear out for a test drive before buying.
We rented backpacking gear for a quick trip in RMNP since we weren't ready to commit to purchasing all the very expensive equipment needed. Great service from the staff who explained all the options and how to use equipment. Pick up and drop off days weren't charged as part of the rental period which was awesome.
