I'm so glad this place exists! Not having all of the expensive gear shouldn't keep you from experiencing the wonder in beauty of the outdoors. This is a great alternative. This is a great remedy to the issue of accessibility. My partner and I were able to outfit our entire backpacking trip. We went in on a whim and left feeling so relaxed about our preparation. When I loaded up for a long weekend camping trip, I didn't expect to find my backpack infested with a mouse nest. It had been over two years since I'd gone backpacking, so it was extremely disappointing and stressful trying to figure out what I was going to do. I'd been planning this trip for two months, and there was no way I was going to miss it. After having no luck on Facebook Marketplace, I turned to the good ol' interwebs, Google. Outdoors Geek was the highest rated and closest outdoor store I could find. It's tucked into a super convenient location off Broadway, less than 10 minutes away from me. I went in planning to buy just the basic necessities to get me through the trip. Then Sally told me they rent gear. I was honestly surprised, seriously what an awesome option! I was fully expecting to spend a bunch of money replacing equipment, but instead I was able to rent exactly what I needed. I don't camp very often anymore, so this ended up being the best case scenario. I rented a backpack, tent, sleeping bag, Jetboil, sleeping pad, and a few other essentials. I just got back into cell service and wanted to leave a review because this place absolutely saved my weekend. Everything I rented was clean, fresh, neatly packed, and well organized. The backpack Sally fitted me with was incredibly comfortable, and it made the trip that much better. Tomorrow I'll be returning the gear, but honestly, I'm already planning to buy some of the items I rented because I liked them so much. From now on, Outdoors Geek will be my first stop for outdoor gear. Support your local businesses they really do make a difference!
