The only thing better than taking a breathtaking hike outdoors is enjoying those views with friends. But don’t worry if you don’t know anyone who shares that same love for exploring nature.

There are several ways to connect with other women nearby who are ready to pack up and hit the trails — and maybe form some lifelong friendships in the process. Here are four different outlets and groups that will help you connect with other nearby women for your next adventure.

Women Who Hike

Helping to unite women across the country and even the globe, Women Who Hike created a social media network where women hikers can communicate. Start by choosing your state and/or region from their list of Facebook groups, and you can join to start connecting with other women near you. They also host private group hikes for members (costs $15 to become a member).

Hike Like a Woman

Based out of Wyoming, Hike Like a Woman helps you find their ambassadors and contributors who have volunteered to lead local group hikes. You can also follow along with events and get plugged in through their local Facebook pages. The group even has a book club where they discuss a new travel or adventure book.

Appalachian Mountain Club

With chapters across the country, the Appalachian Mountain Club offers women’s adventure programs led by other women who are passionate about spending time outdoors. They have women’s events for activities ranging from hiking to fly fishing, so you can squeeze as much as you want into your trip. This is a good option if you want to enjoy nature — but don’t exactly want to rough it — considering their trips come with lodge accommodations and freshly prepared meals.

Meetup

Thousands of women hikers turn to Meetup to find groups near them or ones that are focused on a specific trail. Narrow their map down to your location, and see which group best fits what you’re looking for, like hike times and skill level. There are 60 women’s hiking groups to choose from, providing you a pretty good selection.
