The Top 4 July 4th Camping Experiences in Colorado:

1. Estes Park, known as “The Gateway to The Rockies”, Surrounding Estes Park Tent campers can choose from backcountry camping in the National Park or a more traditional campground experience. With numerous campgrounds in and around Estes Park you are guaranteed to have a spectacular view no matter where you stake your tent. Estes Park will kick off their July 4th celebration on July 4th, no matter which day it lands on.

2. The small town of Frisco more than 9,000 feet above sea level calls itself, “The Main Street of the Rockies”. This old town boasts 11 historic buidings from the 1800s that depict life as it was in an old mining town. Just a little more than 5 miles away you’ll find White River National Forest with traditional tent campsites such as Heaton Bay, Peak One, and Pine Cove.

3. Georgetown – At one end of the The Guanalla Pass is a 22 mile -route of drive or bike stretch. It is here you’ll find “The Silver Queen of The Rockies”. The Georgetown Loop is a railway that takes passengers on a scene ride through antique gold mines, trestle bridges and gorgeous mountain views all summer long. The Clear Lake Campground In the Arapaho and Roosevelt  National Forest 4 miles south of Georgetown, features 8 campsites equipped with modern restrooms , and the Guanalla Pass campground features 17 sites.

4. Lake Pueblo State Park, has 3 different camping areas with a total of 400 campsites! Pueblo West boasts the biggest water fight “West of the Mississippi River”. As parade-goers line the street, they turn from mere parade watchers to true parade participants fighting the people in the parade with water guns. In July summer heat who can resist a water gun fight, and on this scale!!
