Congaree National Park is located in South Carolina and has a territory of 26,546-acres. This National Park preserves the largest tract of old growth bottomland hardwood forest left in the United States. The lush trees that grow in the Congaree National Park are very tall and forms one of the highest temperate deciduous forest canopies remaining in the world.

Congaree is considered a sanctuary for plants and animals and a research site for scientists, actually about 57 percent of Congaree is designated to wilderness area. The park is great for relaxing and some of the activities it offers are hiking, primitive camping, bird watching, picnicking, canoeing & kayaking, Ranger guided interpretive walks and canoe tours, nature study, and environmental education programs.
